Film shows, discussions, lectures and workshops lasted from August 22,  2018  to August 26,  2018 in the Nowa Sol Culture Centre. There were 30 non-commercial movies, which competed in a few categories. Moreover, there were panel discussions and meetings with the creators of  independent cinema.

Independent cinema requires equally unconventional props. This year, once again, Solanin Film Festival takes place in the surroundings of the nuno’ni furniture, which was provided by the Terra Group company located in Zielona Gora. The Cubrick Table and the red seats duo called Loft, worked perfectly as the background for the most important figures of the Polish independent cinema. The nuno’ni furniture, taking care of the participants’ comfort, proved its charm and functionality in the unconventional but still cultural events. In the modern chairs, at the glass table sat, among others, the following actors: Mirosław Zbrojewicz and Urszula Grabowska, but also Małgorzata Brama – the director and Aleksander Pietrzak – the screenwriter.

The films, which won the awards this year, are as powerful as the figure of the legendary Solanin, watching around the whole event. The gathering was opened by Cold War directed by Paweł Pawlikowski. Next the viewers had an opportunity to see other productions, not only in the feature version. In the 2018 edition, on a poster, also there were animated images, outside the mainstream. Grand Prix of the festival was earned by Marta Prus for the movie Over The Limit.
